The company which employed a man killed on his first night on the job as a security guard is being prosecuted by the Department of Labour. Charanpreet Singh Dhaliwal was found dead from serious head injuries early on November 18 last year at a construction site in Henderson, west Auckland. Waitakere man Hateni Kaufusi Latu, 27, has been charged with his murder. A Department of Labour spokeswoman confirmed to NZ Newswire that CNE Security was facing one charge of failing to ensure the safety of employees at work. "We are calling for the law to recognise that the responsibility for an employee's safety lies with the company who benefits from their work - Fulton Hogan in this case," Council of Trade Unions boss Helen Kelly says.
