Heavy fog has disrupted flights in and out of Auckland and Hamilton airports, with the fog still hanging around late on Thursday morning. Domestic flights were the hardest hit in and out of Auckland, with 17 flights cancelled and 26 delayed. International flights, where the larger aircraft are more likely to have better technology for landing and taking off in low visibility, were less affected, with just three flights delayed, Auckland Airport spokesman Richard Llewellyn told NZ Newswire. The fog was still hanging around about 11am and it was forecast to lift about midday.
