More heavy rainfall is on the way for an already sodden Canterbury. A Metservice severe weather warning is in place for areas south of the Waimakariri River on Tuesday morning. "This event is likely to have a significant impact since the ground is already saturated with water from recent rain events," the Metservice warned. Bursts of rain on Tuesday could bring up to 60mm of rain. The heaviest rainfall is expected from midday to midnight on Tuesday with intensities reaching up to 10mm an hour.
