Police have laid assault charges against a Nelson woman after she allegedly drove her car into her uncle as he walked along a waterfront street. The 40-year-old man was walking along Wakefield Quay on Wednesday morning when the car hit him and the woman drove off, police said. Reports varied on whether his leg was severed in collision or whether doctors amputated the limb when he was taken to hospital.
