A low is forecast to pass just south of the country during Wednesday. A front associated with this low may become slow moving over Stewart Island during the morning. The front is likely to remain over or near the island until mid-afternoon or early evening on Wednesday, bringing a period of sustained heavy rain. Rainfall accumulations in Stewart Island may not be enough to justify a warning but forecasters will continue to monitor the situation.
