A Mexican man whose 36-year-old wife and baby daughter plunged to their deaths from a high-rise Auckland apartment building was in New Zealand to take part in an Auckland University seismic study. The woman and the three-month-old baby fell from the 26th storey of the Auckland Harbour Oaks Hotel and Apartment facilities on Gore St about 5.20pm on Wednesday. The family had been in New Zealand since mid-September. The woman's husband, an engineer, was in the Wairarapa working on the early stages of a research project when his wife and daughter died, Fairfax reports.
