Picton locals are allowed back into their homes, but further work is required on a massive slip that threatened the existence of houses overnight. Heavy rain caused 200 cubic metres of soil and debris to slide towards the homes on Wellington Street. Investigations this morning show the slip has now stabilised. Marlborough District Council assets and services manager Mark Wheeler says some of the land may need to be removed. "EQC are sending their geotechnical engineers, and they've been talking with our engineer and making some decisions on whether any remediation works are necessary."
