Man rides scooter through Sydney Harbour tunnel

A reckless scooter rider could face a hefty fine after his afternoon ride through one of Sydney’s busiest tunnels was caught on camera.

Drivers were left shocked when the unidentified man held up traffic by riding his scooter through the Cross City Tunnel around 3.45pm on Tuesday.

Traffic had been flowing smoothly until motorists came across the man riding his scooter in the westbound lanes.

“It was really dangerous. I don't know what this guy was thinking to do that in that place…especially at four o’clock,” witness Alberto Flamigni told 7 News.

While the man made up some speed on the downhill stretch, motorists still had to slow down as they approached him.

"It's incredibly dangerous behaviour, it's irresponsible. The individual in question is putting his own life at risk as well as the other drivers,” said Brad Burden from Transurban.

As push bikes and scooters are banned from the tunnel the man could face some hefty fines if police catch up with him.

Unfortunately this isn't the first time a person had been caught behaving recklessly on busy roads.
