A pet hamster in UK is lucky to be alive after falling 12 feet from a window, bouncing off a car bonnet and being chased by a cat.

According to Daily Mirror, one-year-old Rolo escaped his cage late night after a tube came loose.

He then fell off from the first-floor window and bounced off a car parked outside only to be chased by a cat.

Police had to scare the black cat away before attempting to catch him.

An officer was finally able to catch Rolo with her helmet after giving chase around rubbish bins and parked cars.

They reunited the runaway rodent with his family after spotting a 'Beware of the hamster' sign in the window of their house in Beddington, it was reported.

The family was oblivious to his disappearance until the officers brought him home.

"Until they knocked on the door, we didn't know he was missing. I can’t believe a hamster survived a drop like that. We’re grateful to the police for coming to the rescue," Rolo's owners' mum told the Daily Mirror.
