You have to feel for John Key

John Key must wake up every morning and worry.

And I'm not talking about what the economy is doing or if climate change has become irreversible.

I'm confident in saying that I bet he wakes up and worries about what the people who make up his side of parliament have said or done now.

The absolute kerfuffle over MPs using tax payer money to fund trips for themselves and their other halves is becoming a horrendously bad joke.

The latest revelations about Hone Harawira and Rodney Hide are, from a tax payers point of view, disgraceful.

And as for Mr Hide slamming Key at a speaking engagement on Wednesday night and then apologising the day after, well I think that's just a load of tripe.

I used to think Rodney Hide had something good to offer to the political world.

Now, it's fair to say he's no better than most of them.

He has been a raging failure since the last election.

ACT's promises to straighten out the justice system have been absolute hot air.

And now he's jumping on the band wagon and in my mind taking the mickey.

The majority of our elected members of parliament are very well paid and unlike the Prime Minister they don't donate their salaries to charity.

So how they see it fit to also be claiming expenses to take their partners along with them is just a rort.

I know plenty of business people who travel the world for work.

And they certainly don't take their partners with them – at the company's expense.

Unfortunately it's time for John key to take on the role of the angry dad.

Being nice to these people obviously hasn't worked.

So it's time to take a hard line.

Take them out of action. Remove them from their positions and get rid of the ones who obviously don't listen.

And I'm pretty sure I'm not alone here, so tell me what you think.

Agreed, on certain overseas meetings and hui, other halves do not need to attend in ANY capacity. Make it clear, then there are no problems, the location should not come into it.Not in this economic climate anyway.Rodney Hide is a moaner, with sweet f.a to contribute to anything that means anything.Politicians should be our inspiration, and example of how to lead a good life.We need less moaning, more action, less overseas trips and an agressive low profile approach to politics.

Why any one should be surprised at the greed of our public and private leaders beats me. It's been the norm since time began. Once you have your snout in the trough you may as well get your feet in as well.

It's time a parliamentary travel commission was set up. MP's would apply for funding, explaining what they would be doing and how it would benefit New Zealand. On their return there would be an evaluation regarding the effectiveness of the venture. This business with Harawira (apart from his appalling language) absolutely stinks. As for Rodney, are we surprised? I think not. There was a deafening silence from him when Douglas's snout was revealed to be firmly in the trough.
