New shows hit NZ screens

I'm getting pretty excited about Harper's Island, the 13-week murder mystery event that kicks off on Monday (Sept 14th) on C4.

Usually I'm a bit too much of a wuss for horrors but I'll definitely be giving this one ago - it was the "mystery" bit that clinched it.

So what's all the fuss about? Well, this group of family and friends travel to a secluded island for a destination wedding, according to the blurb. They've come to laugh, to love and - though they don't know it - to die.

Whoooooo, spooky! But there's more: As the wedding festivites begin, friendships are tested and secrets exposed as a murderer claims victims one by one, transforming the wedding week of fun and celebration into a terrifying struggle for survival.

Another new series is starting over on Prime, starring John Leguizamo and Donnie "brother-of-Mark" Wahlberg (God, he must get sick of hearing that).

The Kill Point is about an eight-hour event focusing on two men as they square off during a bank heist gone horribly wrong and the hostage negotiations that ensue.

John Leguizamo plays Mr Wolf, the leader of a small band of military vets who set out to rob a major bank in Pittsburgh. When things go awry they're forced to take more than a dozen hostages and find themselves battling the cops, the hostages and each other.

Donnie Wahlberg, meanwhile, is the police negotiator whose job it is to manipulate the situation and convince Mr Wolf to free the hostages before they bring the FBI bad boys in...
