Kansas City, Missouri, may be new to your must-go list, but its roots as a travelers’ outpost run deep. This historic metro started as a trading hub for French fur purveyors and covered wagons headed west. Now, it continues to attract visitors with its jazz music, artsy neighborhoods and legendary barbecue

1 National World War I Museum and Memorial

One of Kansas City's most iconic views comes from the top of the Liberty Memorial Tower, which former president Calvin Coolidge dedicated in 1926. In the museum, you can  explore historical exhibits and art related to WWI.

2 Crossroads Arts District

Live music venues and charming boutiques are the high points of this repurposed warehouse district, which hosts a monthly food truck festivalVisit a gallery or let the alleyways be your photo subjects.

3 Urban Provisions

Stop by this modern general store for a locally made gift or cocktail-making workshop. The woodsy, quaint  aesthetic is perfect for Insta.

4 Happy Gillis Cafe & Hangout

You can get breakfast all day at this Guy Fieri-approved joint. As for Instagram posts, it'll be tough to decide between a photo of the eatery's vintage decor and its  biscuit sandwiches.

5 Kauffman Stadium

The Major League Baseball website calls this  one of the country's "crown jewel ballparks." Take a stadium tour or attend a game to watch the Royals do their thing.

6 Arthur Bryant's BBQ

U.S. presidents including Barack Obama have dined at this barbecue joint, which has  served KC since 1920. Stacks of beef, sausage and ribs will make your Insta followers jealous, in a good way.

7 Finefolk

This shop-meets-studio in the Crossroads Arts District features curated designer pieces from near and far. The interior  is a photo-worthy work of art in its own right.

8 Boulevard Brewing

Travel + Leisure calls Boulevard  one of the best local breweries in the U.S. Take a free tour to snap the production process, then  taste a flight.

9 Westport

The neighborhood that  began as a hub for the Oregon Trail is now a buzzy enclave full of shopping, food and live music venues. Capture the street art by day and hit the whiskey bar or saloon at night.

10 The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art

About 34,500 pieces span more than 5,000 years of human history at this free and family-friendly museum. Outdoor works like the giant shuttlecocks are a hit with Instagrammers.
