A 14-year-old girl has been arrested by Russian police on suspicion of hiring hitmen to murder her mother after allegedly being forbidden to see her boyfriend.
The victim, 38-year-old Anastasia Milosskaya, was found dead in a skip bin near Moscow and bore signs of having been beaten and strangled to death, reports The Sun.
The girl and a 15-year-old boy, who was living in her family's flat and is presumed to be her boyfriend, are accused of paying two other teenagers 350,000 rubles ($6,730) to carry out the killing.
Russia's Investigative Committee claims Ms Milosskaya had tried to order the boy to leave for being a bad influence on her daughter, leading to the alleged murder-for-hire plot. It's also believed the young couple intended to live off the victim's savings of more than $2.8 million rubles ($55,000).
Authorities say the girl and her friend allowed the alleged accomplices into the apartment and were present during the murder. The single mother's body was discovered in a garbage pile two days later wrapped in plastic and a mattress.
According to reports, the schoolgirl had expressed how much she disliked her mum on multiple occasions. "She spoke about hating her mother many times, even though her mother was a good person who loved her," a friend of the girl was quoted as saying.
The accused individuals, all aged between 14 and 17, have been placed in an adolescent facility for a month during ongoing investigations. The maximum sentence the youths face is 10 years, to be initially served in a youth correctional colony.
Further details of the case are yet to be released as the investigation continues.
