2 men arrested after bar fight turns deadly in Coquitlam, B.C.

Two men have been arrested after police say a 35-year-old man was fatally stabbed during a reported fight at a Coquitlam, B.C., bar on Friday night.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is now looking into the case, after police were called out to the John B. Neighbourhood Pub on Coquitlam's Austin Avenue just before 9:45 p.m. PT on Friday.

There, police say they found a man suffering from life-threatening injuries after reports of a fight. He died despite the efforts of first responders. Police have not released his identity.

IHIT says officers arrested two men believed to be involved in the fight, and that there is no ongoing risk to the public.

"We believe there are several witnesses to the fight who have yet to speak with police and we are asking them to contact us as soon as possible," IHIT Sgt. Freda Fong said in a statement.

Anyone who has more information, including CCTV or dashcam footage of the pub or nearby Charland Avenue, is asked to call IHIT at 1-877-551-4448 or email them at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
