SINGAPORE — Two men were separately charged on Tuesday (28 December), each with molesting two other males.

The two men are Muhammad Irfan Ismail, 25, and Mohamad Danish Mirza Mohamad Shah, 22, both Singaporeans.

Irfan faces two charges of molesting male victims under the age of 14. He is said to have carried out his acts in the Canberra area in two separate incidents.

On 11 March last year, he allegedly molested a 10-year-old boy inside a HDB lift by pulling the boy’s pants down to his knees. On 19 April this year, Irfan is said to have pulled a 12-year-old boy’s pants at the ground floor lift lobby of a HDB block.

Danish was handed two charges of molesting two males who were slightly younger than him. On the night of 1 December last year, Danish allegedly moved his hand towards a 20-year-old man’s groin and kissed the man on his lips, and also drew the man’s hand towards his groin.

Hours later, in the early morning of 2 December last year, Danish is said to have molested another 19-year-old man by touching his groin area at least five times, and kissing the teen on his lips at least once.

The locations of both these alleged incidents were redacted from court documents. All the alleged victims in Irfan and Danish’s cases cannot be named due to a gag order protecting their identities.

Danish’s case will return to court for a further mention on 25 January next year, while Irfan is expected to plead guilty on 8 February.

If convicted of molesting a person under 14, Irfan may be jailed up to five years, fined, or caned, or with any combination of the penalties. If convicted of of molest, Danish may be jailed up to two years, fined, and/or caned.
