Our social media timelines have been flooded with people baking since the beginning of lockdown. Everything from bread to brownies to cakes have been taking over every Instagram Story and Twitter post for the last eight weeks, with people on TikTok now getting in on the action.
Specifically, this five ingredient recipe has been going viral, after social media users found a super easy way to make delicious cookies with minimal faff, which leaves more time for eating. That's the kind of recipe we're after.
The recipe gained traction thanks to the @foodies TikTok account, which shared the recipe that calls for just five ingredients: 1 cup light brown sugar, 1 cup peanut butter, 1 egg, 1 teaspoon baking soda, and ½ cup chocolate chips.
The flourless recipe promises to be gooey on the inside, crispy on the outside, and that perfect balance of salty and sweet thanks to the peanut butter and chocolate chip combo.
Bake at 180 degrees for 8-10 minutes for the perfect lockdown treat. It literally could not be easier - especially when flour is so hard to get hold of these days. All you need to do now is find an egg!
- 1 cup of peanut butter (crunchy or smooth)
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp baking soda
- Half a cup of chocolate chips
- Mix all the ingredients together, and then divide into 12 equal balls.
- Bake on a greased or lined baking tray at 180C/350F/gas 4 for 8-10 minutes.
As a rule of thumb, a cup of peanut butter is about 250g, a cup of sugar is about 200g and half a cup of chocolate chips is around 90g. You're so welcome.
