Lena Dunham has reportedly splashed out $2.7 million on a new home in Los Angeles.

The 'Girls' star, who also has an apartment in New York with her boyfriend Jack Antonoff, recently bought the 1920s house, which is located just off the Sunset Strip, for the impressive sum, according to gossip website TMZ.com.

The 2,500 square-foot property was one owned by 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' star George Peppard and is complete with three bedrooms, a large saltwater outdoor pool, an open fire, lots of windows to encourage natural light and vintage-style décor.

Meanwhile, news that the 28-year-old beauty has snapped up a home in Los Angeles may come as a surprise to some fans as she recently admitted the Californian city makes her feel sad.

She told Vogue magazine at the time: "I like Los Angeles, but more than two weeks and I start to get a very sad feeling.

"You eat well there, and you take hikes, and my dog loves it, but ultimately it's not the right place for me."

She added: "I don't feel at home here, and no matter how long this is my job, I will never feel at home here ... And if I do start to feel at home here, someone should really worry about me."
