Man charged after woman's violent death

NZ Newswire November 16, 2012, 6:59 am

Police have charged a 38-year-old man with the murder of a Tawa mother of two who died following a violent attack in the northern Wellington suburb.

The body of Amanda Dawn Taufale, 33, was found by family members at a house on Sunrise Boulevard on Thursday morning.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Oxnam says police aren't looking for anyone else in connection with Ms Taufale's death at this stage.

"I know this will come as a relief to Amanda's family," he said.

"The investigation team is still working hard to understand the exact events leading up to Amanda's death."

He said further details will not be available until after a post-mortem.

Police are still appealing for sightings of a blue Toyota Corolla hatchback, registration GMB108, found abandoned at nearby Takapu railway station.

They have been canvassing commuters at the station since 5am on Friday for sightings of the car and any occupants.
