Police seek second car in Tawa killing

NZ Newswire Updated November 16, 2012, 3:05 pm

More than 70 Wellington commuters have spoken to police about possibly witnessing the aftermath of an alleged murder in the suburb of Tawa.

Police were thanking all those who came forward in their investigation into the death of mother-of-two Amanda Dawn Taufale, 33, whose body was found at her house on Thursday morning.

Ernest Smith, 38, has been charged with her murder and made a brief court appearance on Friday.

A blue Toyota Corolla hatchback was found abandoned at Tawa's Takapu railway station on Thursday morning after Ms Taufale's body was discovered.

Police also want to find, or hear information about, a teal green or blue 1994 Mazda Lantis hatchback, registration BDS894, which was taken from Tawa and may been left around Makara, on Wellington's west coast, on Wednesday.

The car's door was red and may have been driven by West Indian-born Smith.
