Man attacked by huge croc on golf course

A tourist who was holidaying in Mexico has had a lucky escape after being attacked by a crocodile while playing golf.

The Daily Mail reports British man Dougie Thomson, 58, was playing golf with friends in Cancun when a crocodile appeared and latched onto his leg.

Thomson told the Mirror he had no idea there was water behind the bushes on the golf course.

"I took a shot and it landed on the green. Then I heard this noise behind me and this huge crocodile snapped me by the thigh."

He says he couldn't feel any pain because of the shock.

The father-of-two was saved by his friends who hit the 12-foot crocodile with golf clubs and repeatedly ran it over with a golf cart.

The creature eventually released Thomson and returned to the swamp, but not before attacking the golf cart.

He says his leg is like "a butcher's shop window" and the muscle in his thigh has been torn away.

Thomson needed 200 staples and is recovering in Mexico before he's due to travel to Canada, where he know lives, for more treatment.
