A 44-year-old process worker has been charged with murdering Rotorua woman Michelle Hoffman-Tamm.

Gwenda Leigh Sloane, also known as Gwenda Leigh Pluss, who had been charged with assaulting Ms Hoffman-Tamm, is now charged with her murder on November 7.

Sloane appeared in Rotorua District Court on Monday morning and was later assessed by a forensic nurse.

She was not asked to enter a plea when she reappeared in court and was remanded to reappear on December 12.

Ms Hoffman-Tamm was last seen alive on November 7 and her body was found in a forest near Murupara 16 days later.

The 51-year-old had left home on her bike intending to visit friends nearby.
