FIRST ON 7: Fearless thieves ignore security cameras

A number of brazen burglars have been breaking into Melbourne homes while families sleep stealing wallets, computers and car keys left out in the open.

Police are being called to an increasing number of robberies where burglars have ignored security cameras and roam through homes freely.

Mary-Anne's Brighton mansion was broken into while the family slept and she says she was taken aback once she reviewed the security footage.

“The body language… he was just so relaxed doing it like: ‘I do this every night, this is my job,’” she said.
Video give to 7 News shows the chilling images of a burglar outside before breaking into a key security box and letting himself inside.

He spent nine minutes casually walking around the house looking for small items to steal, completely unfazed by the cameras recording him.

Despite the clear vision and fingerprints at the scene the offender is yet to be caught.

Police are warning people to protect themselves with extra home security.
