Man and child pulled alive from rubble after air strike in Syria

A distressing video of a man and child being pulled alive from underneath a flattened building after an airstrike in Syria has emerged.

The footage, which has been posted to social media, shows the pair being dug out of the rubble after a Syrian government air strike that killed five people.

Haaretz reports that the bombing occurred on Sunday in the town of Saqba, near the capital Damascus.

The bloodied boy is the first to get his head above the sand-like debris and coughs up dust as workers dig around him and shout the Islamic phrase 'Allahu akbar' which means 'God is greater'.

The boy is seen crying in distress as he is surrounded by the helpers trying to dig him out.

The camera then pans around to a man whose face and one free arm are visible as he tries to remove the dust and rubble surrounding him.

The short clip gives a glimpse of the true horror of the four-year-long conflict that has so far claimed more than 240,000 lives and turned thousands of people into refugees.
