Real or fake? Video of massive lightning bolt striking car sends shockwaves online

An incredible dashcam video may have captured the luckiest driver in history in vision of a massive lightning bolt struck the back of a car in the middle of a busy Melbourne intersection. But is it real?

The 13-second clip uploaded to YouTube shows a silver 4WD moving along a road when it is hit by the huge flash of electricity from the sky.

The bolt was so strong that when it hit, concrete debris was sent flying into the air.

Online audiences have been divided as to the authenticity of the clip, which has been shared thousands of times on social media and viewed 110,000 times on YouTube just days ago, after it was initially posted in April.

It is unclear where the footage was taken, however reports suggest it was in Melbourne.

Some viewers who believe it to be fake have said the lack of damage to car is a sign of clever editing and that 'a real lightning strike would have flared the lens of the dash cam up'.

Some who believe it to be real have defended the clip, saying the car would be unlikely to sustain any damage externally.
