Canberra ‘ram-raiders’ caught on CCTV failing crash tackle exit

A pair of Canberra ‘ram-raiders’ have been caught on CCTV struggling to flee from a shopping centre.

ACT police shared the footage on Friday night, after the burglary at Calwell Shopping Centre earlier that day.

About 5.46am the Nissan Pulsar hatchback with two men inside, ploughed through the doors at the entry to the centre.

The ‘ram-raid’ caused significant damage.

The offenders then drove the car through the centre to Woolworths, where they forced their way inside.

The pair then try to flee the shopping centre the same way they came in, however this time their attempt failed and one of the men was forced to get out of the car and open the door.

The second man then can be seen pushing the car through the exit.

Police have put the call out for witnesses.

The vehicle suspected to have been involved in the offence was later located by police in Calwell around 6.30am.

Investigations are ongoing and police urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident or anything suspicious in Calwell or Theodore this morning, or can help identify the offenders involved, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
