From loser to Lothario: How Gable Tostee went from having no friends to bedding four women in one week

In 2010 Gable Tostee was a self-described “hermit” with few friends or little confidence when it came to women.

By the time he met Warriena Wright on Tinder, he had transformed himself from loner to Lothario, gloating about sexual conquests on Internet forums.

Under the username G T, he took to a body-building forum to ask for advice on how to make friends in January 2010, according to The Courier Mail.

“I’m in a bit of a strange situation… About five years ago, some s*** went down (I won’t go into it) and I had to cut off contact with literally all my friends and basically disappear, many of them were involved,” he reportedly wrote.

Tostee explained he didn’t know how to make new friends and asked the forum for advice after finding it “difficult to make actual friends without knowing people already”.

“I eventually have to reveal the fact that I’m a hermit,” he reportedly wrote.

After bumping into an old school friend at a restaurant, the pair caught up again and went out on the town where they met two girls.

Tostee clicked with one girl, telling his online friends they had spent the night dancing, kissing and then exchanged numbers.

“Mine seemed pretty into me, wanted to meet again, hugged her goodbye outside and said I’d call her. They were on holidays and are leaving today,” he wrote.

“I called earlier but it was an answering machine so I texted her and haven’t had a reply. Should I call again, perhaps off a private number?”

One reader told him not to, explaining that she would’ve received the message and to wait for her to respond.

“Well I’ll never see her again in a few hours no matter what I do,” he wrote, seemingly desperate for her attention. “Last night I got the idea I’d be able to close the deal.”

Tostee’s inexperience with women was highlighted when he asked the forum: “Do you think it’s possible to close the deal in the same night with ANY girl if you’re good enough?”

Spurred on by advice from fellow bodybuilders, Tostee hit the nightclubs again – this time with a more ‘aggressive’ approach.

“On Friday I met this chick who was here on holidays. Started talking to her at the bar, danced, kissed and kept in mind at this point to be more aggressive,” he wrote.

“I can’t remember exactly what I said but I was much more direct. Ended up rooting her in the back of my car … then taking her back to my place to root her in bed.”

The flood of confidence brought Tostee out the following night in search for another easy target.

He managed to score a kiss and three phone numbers but for the increasingly confident Tostee, the night was deemed a failure.

He rated one of the girls a 6/10 and said he didn’t even remember meeting the third.

Still, he was desperate to get laid and reached out to the girl that he had kissed.

After receiving no reply, he asked his readers what more he could’ve done to secure sex.

“Maybe bought her more drinks? Would this be unethical?”

A pattern was beginning to emerge, consisting of an eager Tostee chatting up women, dancing, exchanging numbers, sometimes scoring a kiss – and then never hearing from them.

In between the 'failures' he met a Brazilian girl who seemed content on getting to know him before sleeping with him.

After taking her on a date the following night his sexual advances were again rejected, leaving him to question why she was “screwing around” with him.

“In my mind, I just want to get the second one down,” he wrote. “So then I’ll know it’s not a fluke.”

Over a course of several months, Tostee practiced his approach in many nightclubs with many woman, but still managed to strike out.

In one night, he chatted up 20 different women to score only one phone number – but he didn’t give up.

He kept the Brazilian girl in the background, continuing to take her out on dates but she seemed only interested in kissing and hand-holding.

When she announced that she was returning home and couldn’t see him anymore, Tostee realised for the first time how much he actually cared about her.

“I realised something that never even occurred to me,” he wrote in the forum.

“But all the girls I have met and gotten to know over the past few weeks I have actually cared about. I’m still in touch with the girl I banged before even though she is overseas now.

“Regardless of whether I get laid I’m still going to really miss this Brazilian girl and I don’t really know what to think. In any case I do not believe in monogamous relationships but I never thought I would give a damn about any of these girls until I realised that I may never see one of them again.”

But to just to make things clear he added: “None of this will stop me from trying to meet new girls.”

Staying true to his word, Tostee was slowly transforming from a loner to a party playboy.

After relentless weeks perfecting his technique, he had finally mastered it – sharing with his online friends how he managed to bed four women in a single week.

“It was important for me to get the second one out of the way so I knew the first wasn’t some kind of fluke,” he wrote, referring to his first nightclub pick-up.

He told of how he spotted a pretty blonde and decided to get creative with his approach.

Walking over to the girl’s friend, he told her: “I think your fried is checking me out.”

“You should dance with her,” the friend replied.

With no more invitation needed, he made his move on the blonde girl.

Before long they were kissing, and Tostee invited her back to his place with the promise of dropping her home the following morning.

It worked. He had found his second trophy.

In the nights that followed he worked the same moves – smooth-talking, dancing, kissing, exchanging numbers and inviting them to his place.

If they worried about getting home, he reassured them that he would drive him back the next day.

He bedded three more women before the week was through, documenting each fling in the forum – complete with a rating out of 10.

One girl only took minutes to be convinced to go home with him. She was hot, he said, an eight out of 10.

One of them only scored a 5.5. She was a time-waster, a “huge mistake”, he said. He should’ve gone with “a much hotter girl”.

“Anyway, that’s the fifth root for the year and the fourth within a week,” he wrote. “My mates were amazed and actually asking me for tips. Who would have thought?”

By the next week Tostee was in full swing, telling his readers how he managed to pull a girl without even saying a word.

“I saw this hot smallish girl, 8/10 with an amazing body, dancing on her own, surrounded by like five guys,” he wrote.

“All I did was give her a glance, then a ‘come here’ gesture with my hand and I was in. She was great in bed.”

After being found not guilty of the murder and manslaughter of New Zealand tourist Warriena Wright, Tostee is looking to start a new life – possibly away from his old stomping ground on the Gold Coast.
