Accused Melbourne killer faces court

A father-of-two will spend months in custody after being charged with the murder of a man in Melbourne.

Jim Leigh, 53, appeared in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Thursday charged with killing 47-year-old Brian Recourt at Montmorency on June 27.

Leigh did not apply for bail and was remanded to reappear for a committal mention on November 1.

Mr Recourt's body was discovered two days after the alleged killing took place and Leigh was charged on Wednesday.

A brief court hearing after his arrest was told it was Leigh's first time in custody and he had no criminal history.
