Andrew Lloyd Webber is playing his songs every day on Facebook, and it's bringing us joy

Over the years, Andrew Lloyd Webber has brought us some of the most beloved musicals in the biz, and lately the prolific composer has taken to Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to spread joy beyond the walls of the theater. He’s bringing his songs directly to the people who love them by sharing videos of himself playing his tunes on the piano.

The first post in the series includes a set of photos of Lloyd Webber and his pet dog alongside the caption, “With us all spending a bit more time at home, which ALW musical number would you like to see Andrew play?” Fans commented with titles from every page of his songbook, from Cats to Evita to Jesus Christ Superstar. The next day, Lloyd Webber posted a video of himself playing “All I Ask of You” from his musical The Phantom of the Opera. Each day has brought more music, and so far, the videos have featured the songs “Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again” from Phantom and “Any Dream Will Do” from Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat. He has also answered fans’ questions about his work and favorite musicals (he loves Hamilton and South Pacific!).

Lloyd Webber is also encouraging fans to join him using the hashtags #HomeIsWhereTheMusicIs and #TogetherAtHome. His recent video of “Any Dream Will Do” features fans of all ages singing his songs while he plays a piano rendition of the show tune. It’s a heartwarming reminder that music can bring people together even when they’re far apart.
