Angela Bishop's husband dies aged 54 after cancer battle
Australian showbiz reporter Angela Bishop announced the death of her husband Peter Baikie on Thursday following his battle with cancer.
The Channel Ten star and daughter of former politician Bronwyn Bishop revealed the news in a statement saying she and the rest of her family were "devastated".
"It is with a heavy heart that Angela Bishop, family and friends advise you of the passing of Angela's much-loved husband, Peter Baikie," the statement read.
"His courage in fighting this disease left all that shared his journey full of immense admiration," the statement also said. "He found his tower of strength in his wife Angela and the love of his daughter Amelia."
The 54-year-old was diagnosed with cancer in 2016 and "fought courageously till the end and passed away on Wednesday 22nd November 2017" surrounded by friends and family.
"The love shown to Angela and family during his final days by Peter’s circle of friends is testament to the man he was," the statement said. "He will be dearly missed but forever loved."
"Angela and Amelia are devastated by the loss of Peter but would very much like to thank all who have supported them through this time," the statement concluded.
Angela and Peter tied the knot back in 2005 and had their daughter Amelia in 2008.
