Anti-vaxxers leave vile note on vandalised cafe door: 'We will kill you'

A Melbourne cafe owner says his business has suffered thousands of dollars in damages after falling victim to an attack by anti-vaxxers.

Simos Kandias, who owns Briki Cafe in Thornbury, told 3AW “it was a big shock” when he arrived to open on Monday morning.

Mr Kandias found a window smashed with a note which reads: “Do what Daniel Andrews says and we will burn your shop down and kill you mother f*****.”

He said someone threw a brick through the window and also smashed up the front door.

“I’m just following the rules. I’m doing what I’m expected to do and keep everyone safe,” he told 3AW.

Mr Kandias said he reported it to the police but he is worried whoever did it might come back.

Member for Cooper Ged Kearney wrote on Facebook “everyone should feel safe at work”.

“This is not okay,” she wrote.

Anti-vaxxers, conspiracy theorists and anti-lockdown protesters have often made headlines throughout the pandemic – particularly in Melbourne.

Many have targeted politicians with Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews often caught in the crosshairs.

At a protest earlier this month protesters brought in a makeshift gallows.

Animal Justice Party MP Andy Meddick has also been targeted. A vile letter was also sent to his staff.

This was because Mr Meddick showed support for a pandemic bill.
