Warning: This article contains spoilers about Game of Thrones season 7 episode 1 'Dragonstone'.
We all knew it was happening – and it happened right in the premiere.
Ed Sheeran made a musical cameo in the first episode of Game of Thrones season seven... as a Lannister soldier, no less.
Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) came across a group of Lannister soldiers at a campfire after she killed all of the Frey men who played a part in the brutal Red Wedding, although these soldiers were actually pretty friendly.
Sheeran and his comrades offered Arya food and wine as she began her journey to King's Landing. When she was asked why she was heading there, she said that she was going to kill the Queen (Cersei Lannister).
An awkward silence came afterwards, before the soldiers burst into laughter, assuming it was a joke.
Take a look at the scene below:
Sheeran sat next to Arya during the whole scene at the campfire, and even had a couple of really short lines ("Worst place in the world").
Here he is offering the Stark some rabbit:
Oh, and Sheeran flexed his vocal cords too as the soldiers had a singalong around the campfire at the start of the scene.
If you want the lyrics to the song he casually sung, here it is...
"He rode through the streets of the city / Down from his hill on high / O'er the winds and the steps and the cobbles / He rode to a woman's sigh / For she was his secret treasure / She was his shame and his bliss / And a chain and a keep are nothing / Compared to a woman's kiss / For hands of gold are always cold / But a woman's hands are warm."
Game of Thrones airs on HBO in the US and on Sky Atlantic in the UK. Watch a teaser clip for episode two 'Stormborn' right here:
