If there's anything 2020 has taught us, it's to expect the unexpected. And while that philosophy can apply to anything, I never thought I'd be applying it to Ariana Grande's hair. But here we are. Enjoy.
Even those who aren't in the true Ariana stan circle know that Ari has spent a huge chunk of her career sporting a particular hairstyle - an iconic high pony (which she's admitted was incredibly painful to wear).
It's something we came to rely on. Something unsurprising, and familiar. A fact of life (like, say, the fact the Queen doesn't eat pizza, or the fact Kim Kardashian surprised her closest inner circle with a trip to a private island where they could pretend things were normal just for a brief moment in time).
And then everything changed. To catch you up, ICYMI, after dabbling in half-down looks (not to mention showing off her beautiful natural curls), she debuted a new iconic look. That look? Ombre pigtails - a badass switch-up with which went on to inspire Khloe Kardashian's own look.
Anyway, back to the present day, and Ari has surprised us all again with a super Presidential-looking, Jackie O-inspired blonde beehive as she anticipates the release of new album Positions.
Hairstylist Josh Liu shared a few shots of recent looks in the run-up to her new music video and album release, and i'm noticing a certain volume at the crown of her head which is, as they say, unprecedented.
It's possible that this is a new solution to those hairpiece-induced headaches poor Ari was suffering, as this style helps spread the tension across a larger portion of her head, rather than putting excess pressure on her hairline.

Is this the new Ari 2020 look? If so, let it be known, I'm here for it.
