After years of working long, draining hours as a flight attendant, 21-year-old Alanna Pow has bought her first property. But the journey to home ownership wasn't an easy one, with the Gen Z content creator having to pick up a side hustle to secure a brighter financial future.

Alanna said while working as a flight attendant, she was diligently trying to save her salary, even putting her social life on hold in order to maximise her savings. But despite her long hours and methodical saving, she found it nearly impossible to get a foot in the door of Australia's competitive property market.

“I was doing everything right, but the numbers just weren’t adding up,” Alanna told Yahoo Lifestyle. “I realised that if I wanted to grow my property portfolio and still enjoy my life, I needed to think outside the box.”

She also said due to her average salary as a flight attendant, it was hard to save for her future. "The salary I was on, initially, was so bad it was like $49,000 but then there was a lot of negotiating with the airlines to raise the award rates, so by the end I was averaging about $2-3,000 a fortnight," she said. "I worked a lot though and never called in sick."

When Alanna bought her first property, she did so from saving up her flight attendant salary but struggled when it came to the mortgage repayments which found her seeking other avenues of earning money.

"I bought my first property from the money I saved being a flight attendant and all of a sudden I had a massive mortgage to repay, it was like $3,000 a month," she revealed. "I realised pretty quickly that I needed to start finding some ways of making more money, that's when I started my OnlyFans. I was making good money from it, like $15,000 a month, while I was still working as a flight attendant, which really helped to pay the bills."

Soon, Alanna realised it could be a full-time gig for her, as her profile started to "blow up" on the platform.

"I've been doing it full-time now for a year and it's just blown up so much more in these last few months, which has given me so much freedom!" she said.

Thanks to her OnlyFans success, Alanna is no longer living a life worrying about her finances. Instead, she’s enjoying a balanced lifestyle that includes travelling, quality time with loved ones, and a newfound sense of financial freedom.

While making spicy content was a step outside of her comfort zone, she has no regrets.

“Everyone’s journey is different,” she said. “It’s about finding what works for you and not being afraid to chase your goals, even if it means stepping outside your comfort zone.”

Alanna sees herself based in Bali in the future post-OnlyFans and buying property over there as well, but she did warn that managing the social media side of her career takes "a lot of effort".

"I started my Instagram in July and it's blown up so much just in these last few months, to the point that now I have almost 260k followers. It definitely takes a lot of effort, I post every day, multiple times a day and am constantly getting content, but I really enjoy it and I actually don't really edit my videos or photos," she shared,

"Men love seeing me just living my life and being natural. I'm on Instagram every second but I'd be doing that anyway, so I love it and it's a dream that it's making me so much money now. Not everyone can do it but I think I have a talent for it."
