A young Australian traveller has shared her advice to anyone considering ditching their corporate careers in favour of life on the road — urging those on the fence to "just do it" because she "could not recommend anything more".

Social media personality Kate Young is "slowly lapping Australia" with her partner, having left home two years ago with "no more than a grand" in her bank account. Currently in in East Arnhem Land — a vast wilderness area in the northeast corner of Australia’s Northern Territory — Young said fleeing her former life in favour of an epic nomadic journey is the best thing she's ever done.

"This is your sign to do a travelling working holiday around Australia," she said online. "We've been on the road, traveling all up the east coast of Australia. Tip of Australia. We're currently in East Arnhem Land, working traveling, having the time our lives."

A former disability support worker, Young explained that the biggest step "is picking a day and quitting your job", taking the plunge into one of life's great adventures. "When we travel we will take on anything though! We’ve done fencing, I’ve laboured for most of our time away," she said.

"If you've been thinking about it, talking about it, just do it. Absolutely do it. I could not recommend anything more."

Young is just one on a long list of others making the same lifestyle switch, as cost of living pressures drives people from cities and into the Australian outback.

Around the country, experts say there's a boom in this new lifestyle, with people leaving the comfort of their homes in favour of the confines of a caravan or motorhome.
