The New 'Baby-Sitters Club' Cast Paid Homage to the '90s Show in the Best Way

Excuse us for getting a little bit emotional, but the new Netflix Baby-Sitters Club cast threw back to the '90s tv series in a special announcement video, and now we're feeling nostalgic. The cast revealed that The Baby-Sitters Club Season 2 is officially happening, so not only are we feeling joy about that, but they spilled the news by performing the theme song to the 1990 BSC TV show. Suddenly we're feeling like pulling out our clear plastic landline to call all of our best friends.

The Netflix account @NetflixFamily announced the Season 2 news on Twitter yesterday, October 28th. "Say hello to your friends! The #BabySittersClub is back in business for a Season 2!," it wrote. In the video beneath, the cast—Sophie Grace (Kristy Thomas), Momona Tamada (Claudia Kishi), Shay Rudolph (Stacey McGill), Malia Baker (Mary Ann Spier), Xochitl Gomez (Dawn Schafer), Vivian Watson (Mallory Pike), and Anais Lee (Jessi Ramsey)—performed "Say Hello to Your Friends," with a few key lyrics changes.

"You can always count on me, and I can count on you. Good times, bad times, in between, and we're getting a Season 2," the Netflix Baby-Sitters Club cast sings over the track.

Honestly, all we can say is "squee!!"

We're not the only ones in our middle school, Ann M. Martin book-reading feelings either.

The Scholastic TV series only aired for three months in 1990, but it clearly is a cultural touchstone for fans. There was also a 1995 Baby-Sitters Club movie that starred Rachael Leigh Cook and Larisa Oleynik, among others. You can watch the TV series theme below:

According to Entertainment Weekly, Netflix's Baby-Sitters Club Season 2 will air in 2021. Based on the announcement video, it appears that Mallory and Jessi will get increased roles in the new season, which we are so on board for. Consider this your "super-special" news for the day.
