Anzac Day is a nationwide day for remembering the sacrifices made by servicemen and women for this country.

And while social media was flooded with messages thanking veterans for their service and remembering those lost, a reality star has been slammed for using the hashtag #LestWeForget on a post that otherwise had really nothing to do with Anzac Day.

Bachelor in Paradise’s Bill Goldsmith took to Instagram on Thursday sharing a photo of himself and Alex Nation from their time together on the Channel Ten reality show.

“Happier times. This part didn’t make the edit,” he captioned the smiling photo, before include the hashtag in question.

'Lest we forget' is used to remember veterans during ceremonies on days like Anzac Day and Remembrance Day in November.

Bill’s post didn’t otherwise reference Anzac Day or war veterans, and his fans called for the star to take down the post.

“Take it down. It’s for our Anzacs. Have some respect,” one person commented.

“Wtf does this pic have to do with ANZAC Day? So distasteful mate,” another agreed.

“Lose the hashtag,” another simply said.

While he deleted the actual '#' symbol, which removed his post from hashtag searches, the words remain and in response to the backlash Bill told Yahoo Lifestyle “get over it”.

While the post was definitely not the right way to commemorate the day, Bill did share photos from a Dawn Service he attended on his stories.

It seems he did pay his respects in a more acceptable way at the Shrine of Remembrance war memorial in Melbourne.

Bill hasn’t been a stranger to controversy lately. He’s been making waves on Bachelor in Paradise this week after being busted two-timing Alex Nation and Florence Moerenhout.
