Bachelorette Brooke Blurton shares reason for shock split: 'My choice'
After news of their split shocked Bachelorette fans earlier this month, Brooke Blurton has revealed the reason behind her breakup from winner Darvid Garayeli.
"As you're all aware, Darvid and I have gone our separate ways. Darvid on the 2/1 came online and publicly announced that we had parted ways," Brooke shared in a lengthy post to her Instagram account on Thursday.
"In an ideal world I would have preferred to have a mutual agreement and/ or had a say in when/how we express that to the public but instead woke to that news which obviously kinda shocked me. Which is where you saw my reaction.
"But Darvid had every right to make that decision, his platform, he can choose that for himself. I'd say it's better to rip the band aid off."
She continued: "It was my choice to end the relationship and I had been thinking about it for a bit towards the end."

The 26-year-old said she had been 'unhappy' and it wasn't only because of the relationship, blaming the "pressure cooker" situation on making things difficult.
"I have a lot of respect for Darvid and what he gave up for me to be IN the relationship but it seems that we both lost ourselves along the way," Brooke added.
"We had a very real love in a very unreal situation but we equally had ALOT of pressure on us too. Which I felt I carried everyday. At the start of the show, I was the best version of myself and when the show ended and my sister died. I became my worst and my saddest.
Brooke stressed there was "No infidelity, no hate".
"We're as amicable as you can be during a healing process. I still love him dearly and have no regrets choosing him. I just wish the world was a little bit more gentle on us in the time we had," she said.
"I wish him all the very best and with support I'd really just like to move past this and hope that we become the best versions of ourselves this year."
Darvid Garayeli was the first to share the news he and Brooke Blurton had "parted ways" in a post to his own Instagram account at the start of January.
"Starting the new year off with an end to a chapter and hopefully the beginning of another," Darvid wrote.
"Unfortunately Brooke and I have parted ways. Whilst we both genuinely thought we were each others person, things change and that's okay."
He went on to ask people to "respect their privacy" adding "a lot of lessons learned".
At the time Brooke revealed she had been blindsided and "overwhelmed" by the breakup post, taking some time off social media.
"I just want to say right now I'm finding this really quite overwhelming and just as surprising to me as you guys," Brooke a few hours after Darvid shared the news.
"I just woke up to the news. It was definitely agreed to part ways. I just wanted to do it privately, amicably and respectfully."
"This was a surprise to wake up to just as much as it was for you guys," she concluded, adding she would be "tuning out" for now.
Brooke picked her ‘Persian Prince’ Darvid in the emotional final episode of The Bachelorette, which saw former Bachelor star and runner-up Jamie-Lee Dayz left in tears.
Queensland landscaper Darvid had been a fan favourite from the very start, with the 27-year-old being the recipient of the coveted White Rose during the premiere episode.
