Bachelorette winner Darvid slid into Brooke’s DMs three years ago
They fell in love on this year’s season of The Bachelorette, but it turns out Brooke Blurton and Darvid Garayeli’s love story actually began three years ago.
Speaking exclusively to Yahoo Lifestyle, the happy couple revealed that Darvid had messaged Brooke on Instagram after her first stint on The Bachelor in 2018.
“He slid into my DMs like three years ago,” Brooke confessed.
“Obviously we can’t follow each other on social media, that would totally be a giveaway. But he’d been following me and the first message that he sent me was, ‘You are everything’ in 2018,” she said, followed by Darvid who added, “A bit clinger vibes”.
It doesn’t end there though, because a year later Darvid messaged Brooke for a second time with, “I’d marry you”.
"And here we are!” Brooke continued. “Anyone would think that’s a bit stalker-ish, but I’m like, it’s quite endearing and I absolutely adore you for it because you obviously felt some connection to me.”

Brooke went on to explain that because the messages had gone straight to her ‘message requests’, she never actually saw them until after filming had wrapped.
“I went to go send a silly Instagram video to Darvid - because obviously [Channel Ten] manages their socials, and this was just before they took over them,” she detailed.
“I went on his page and messaged him and saw these two previous messages before. I was like, ‘What?’ And I screenshot them and sent it to him and he was like, ‘What?’”
“I was so confused,” Darvid chimed in. “I genuinely didn’t know I’d sent them”.
Even though the 27-year-old landscaper was “oblivious” to the situation before going on The Bachelorette, he confessed that Brooke was “the only reason” why he signed up for the show.
“I knew that before making my decision if I was going to go on, and once it came out that she was on there I was like, I'm actually doing this,” he said.
“So many things happened that it really felt like it was meant to be.”
The chemistry between Brooke and Darvid has been evident since their first meeting on the red carpet, where he presented her with a genie’s lamp and granted her three wishes as her ‘Persian Prince’.
This theme carried on right until the end of the season when Brooke asked for her third and final wish: “Will you make me the happiest girl?”
Reflecting on that moment, the 26-year-old youth worker said that she was “dead” when Darvid gave her the special gift.
“I truly do believe in wishes,” she admitted.
“As a kid, I used to always make these wishes and manifest things in my life, and I really truly believe that I manifested Darvid in a person. I’d wholeheartedly put my hand on my heart and be like, he is everything that I've always wanted.”
