Bella Hadid Somehow Made This Grandma Wardrobe Staple Incredibly Sexy

Earlier this week Bella Hadid wore a look so extreme, it's hard to describe with words. As with most extreme looks, low-rise pants were present. So was a Mirror Palais top that looks like a button-down polo crossed with an underwire bra. Not to mention her pants also featured hand-painted mushrooms.

Yesterday, Hadid's look was almost exactly the opposite. It featured a pair of jeans with a silhouette that doesn't cause people to shiver in fear, her go-to leopard print Chrome Hearts bag, and a pair of Alexander Wang thong sandals. Hadid of course wore her signature gold hoops with layers of gold chains. But what was most striking about the look was the patterned button-down shirt she wore almost entirely open, save for one button.

Unlike her Mirror Palais top, the button down top isn't inherently sexy. It's what people wear to job interviews. It's why we use the word buttoned-up to describe people who are conservative and professional. Throw in the quirky vintage sofa print and you have a shirt that looks like something your grandma probably owns in bulk. Of course, while Hadid was technically buttoned up, both halves of her shirt were basically held together by a thread. Essentially it's the sexy cardi trend all over again.

Back in the fall, Hadid was one of the arbiters of the polarizing trend. She even tried to make the trend last throughout the summer by wearing a cropped cardi with her bathing suit while somehow (?) vacationing in Italy. Now that temperatures in New York are above 90 degrees, it only seems right that she'd give the sexy cardi a much needed rest. The button-down seems like an apt replacement that's just as unexpected but won't make you sweat profusely. Evidently, it can actually be used to expose as much skin as you want.

Like the sexy cardigan, Hadid's button-down look is something your grandma would wear, worn in a way that she wouldn't approve of. And apparently, contentious sexy grandma looks are classic Bella Hadid.
