Love Island contestant Belle Hassan has claimed she was attacked this week by someone who targeted her due to her reality TV fame.
The 23-year-old shared pictures of bruising around her eyes on Instagram and wrote a lengthy caption over a picture she took before going out on the night of the alleged attack.
"It’s so sad to think that that this happy photo went so bad so quickly because of a Love Island related attack," Hassan wrote.
She added: "It’s so sad to think because of the short time I had on a poxy TV show that I will never be able to live my life again without being hit in the face for no reason or go out without girls starting on me and abusing me for no reason.
"I’m sick of having to stand up for myself to prove I’m not a c*** to people and try to stand strong to show I’m not an idiot to everyone who asks."
Hassan added that she experiences abuse "week in and week out" due to being a part of Love Island, but hides most of it from her social media followers.
The star said she was planning to take some time away from social media as she "needs time to process things".
She said: "I’m done because honestly I mentally and physically can’t take any more from this."
Hassan took part in the fifth series of Love Island in 2019, where she was introduced as part of the Casa Amor twist.
Soon after joining the villa, she coupled up with Anton Danyluk. The couple split shortly after the conclusion of the show.
Hassan's father is actor Tamer Hassan, who is most famous for his role as the leader of the Millwall firm in The Football Factory.
