The Beverly Hills Dog Show Is this Weekend and Ashley Tisdale Wants Every Dog to Win

Tisdale also made sure she (and her dog Maui) got a chance to catch up with Menounos.

The dogs of the West Coast are preparing to strut their stuff.

The 3rd annual Beverly Hills Dog Show Presented by Purina airs on April 21, Easter Sunday, and Hollywood is getting ready.

Along with attracting more than 1,500 canine competitors from over 200 different dog breeds, the show is a magnet for celebrity animal lovers.

Ashley Tisdale and her pooch Maui will be attending the furry festivities this year, and they are pumped to watch these pooches compete.

“This is my first dog show, but I’ve watched this a lot on TV. I am excited to see all of the dogs and I am excited to see how Maui reacts to the dogs,” Tisdale, 33, told PEOPLE.

While Tisdale adores her “sweet, feisty, sassy” Maui, the actress thinks her pet is meant to be a dog show spectator, not a participant.

“I can’t imagine that ever happening,” Tisdale said of her dog competing in the Beverly Hills Dog Show. “But Maui is really smart. Someone said to me once that you can tell when you play fetch with a dog, if it doesn’t bring back the toy or ball, they are smart because they know you are going to throw it again or take it away. She knows this. I don’t think she really knows that she is a dog she’s been around a lot of people and I think she thinks she’s a human.”

Since Maui won’t be trying for the title of Best in Show, Tisdale is unsure which pup she wants to win.

“I don’t want to limit my pick to one breed. I am rooting for them all!” Tisdale said.
