When it comes to make-up, there are few things more satisfying than landing upon the perfect mascara.

Really, it's a personal decision. Some like dramatic volume while others prefer fluttery length, and some prioritise clean credentials over all else.

One method of finding your holy grail tube is to take the advice of celebrities and the beauty professionals that surround them. After all, if anyone knows how to get a long-lasting dramatic lash, it's the people who spend their lives in front of the camera and their trusted glam teams.

Recent endorsements have come from everyone from Bella Hadid to Kim Kardashian and Nicole Richie. Even the Duchess of Sussex has revealed her personal favourite. (Curious? It's Maybelline's Lash Sensational.)

But one of our favourite recommendations this year comes from the almighty Sir John, one of the industry's most respected make-up artists, who's also known for his hand in creating some of Beyoncé’s most iconic looks (remember that scintillating Coachella glitter eye? You've got Sir John to thank for that).

In an IGTV tutorial with natural skincare queen Tata Harper last night, Sir John talked viewers through his ultimate speedy 15-minute make-up and shared some of his own tips and tricks – including his favourite mascara, Air Volume Mega Mascara, by L'Oréal Paris.

Here's what he had to say:

"Look at this guy, look at this brush. This brush has so much product on it, I can't even describe to you... if you know make-up like I know make-up, this is the brush to have."

If it's good enough for Beyoncé, it's good enough for us.
