Not only are the items better for the environment, they're also very affordable, so if you're looking at revamping yours or your kids' poolside apparel, this is the perfect time.

Items include $10 swim trunks, $12 women's bikinis, kids surf rash vest from $8 and men's boards from $20.

You can purchase the items in store and online from today, but get in quick, because it's only while stocks last.

It's a much needed change with the fast fashion industry being notorious for being one of the world’s ‘dirtiest’ industries and the evidence speaks for itself. In the past year alone, it accounted for four per cent of greenhouse gas emissions and 20 per cent of industrial water pollution.

According to WWF, it takes 2,700 litres of water to make one cotton T-shirt — that’s enough for one person to drink for 900 days.

It comes after Aldi released eco-friendly bedsheets as part of their Special Buys.

The eco-friendly range of products made from hemp — yes, that hemp.

Also known as ‘industrial hemp,’ the plant itself and the food and materials that can be made from it are often misunderstood or lumped in with the drug cannabis.

The sheets will be available in two sizes only: Queen for $139.99 and King $149.99. Sets come in four on-trend colours — forest green, blue, sand and rust — and include a flat sheet, a fitted sheet with a 40cm wall and two pillowcases.

Hemp fibre grows very quickly and requires minimal water making it a renewable crop. The material will last for years to come and you can rest easy when your sheets have finally done their dash as they’re biodegradable.

It’s an item that’s sure to be a hit with those who try to shop sustainably but don’t want to compromise on style.

Along with bedsheets Aldi is also selling a range of hemp-based food, beauty and apparel products, all at wallet-friendly prices.
