Blackpink’s Jennie makes her catwalk debut for Jacquemus
Jennie Kim has officially cemented her status as fashion’s newest it-girl.
The Blackpink member delighted attendees at the Jacquemus 15th anniversary show in Capri last night, by making a surprise appearance to close the show. The show marked her runway debut, and featured Kim sashaying down the terracotta-tiled catwalk in a slinky black backless midi dress with a flared skirt.
The dress was styled with a zebra-print and salmon-pink iteration of the house’s quirky double-heeled sandals. For a pop of colour against the Tyrrhenian Sea, she also carried a turquoise clutch bag adorned with two reflective gold bulbs on either end.
The fashion house teased Kim's walk in an Instagram post on Sunday, showing snaps of the performer posing in nothing but a bright red beach towel and black sunglasses. The photos seemed to be a subtle nod to Brigitte Bardot’s look in the 1963 film Le Mepris or Contempt.
Kim's relationship with Jacquemus has reached new heights over the past year, with the singer starring as the face of the brand’s 'Guirlande' holiday collection in December 2023. The campaign photos captured her posing in some of the brand’s festive offerings alongside a pack of dogs.
Besides Jacquemus, Kim's resumé includes a handful of other major fashion partnerships, from serving as a global Chanel ambassador since 2021 to designing a capsule collection for Calvin Klein last year.
Her outfits also regularly top best-dressed lists at big red-carpet events. She took the Met Gala by storm this year by arriving in an electric-blue cutout minidress custom-made by Alaïa. She's not the only Blackpink member making her mark on the fashion world: her bandmate Lisa also made her catwalk debut in 2021, walking for Celine.
