American officials have held face-to-face discussions with New Zealand Rugby Union top-brass this week in a bid to secure hosting rights for a Bledisloe Cup clash.

Following on from last year's lucrative trans-Tasman clash in Hong Kong, the trophy will again be put up for grabs outside of Australasia.

Denver and Tokyo are vying for hosting rights.

Officials from America met with the NZRU in Wellington on Wednesday.

Up for discussion was the possibility of a three to five year contract which would see the All Blacks play at Denver's Mile High Stadium.

The ground plays host to the Denver Broncos NFL franchise.

Both the NZRU and Australian Rugby Union pocketed more than $3 million from last November's clash in Hong Kong.

That figure could be doubled by playing in America or Japan.

Both the NZRU and ARU are committed to having annual Bledisloe Cup matches outside of Australasia in a bid to boost their coffers.
