Boy, 7, mauled to death by neighbour's dogs as mum tried to protect him
A 7-year-old boy has tragically been mauled to death by four dogs in a brutal home attack in the US state of Idaho, according to local reports.
Kellan Islas was believed to be outside playing on Saturday evening just before 6 pm (local time) when his mother, Emily, found him lying unconscious while being attacked by their neighbour's dogs.
After desperately trying to fight off the animals, Ms Islas reportedly laid on top of her son in attempt to protect him and in the process sustained severe injuries herself. Sadly, she was unable to save him.
Thankfully, Ms Islas youngest child Emily, five, remained inside and was not harmed in the tragic incident.
Both mother and son were rushed to a local hospital, with Ms Islas receiving emergency surgery.
Terror dogs euthanised
The dogs were believed to be two rottweilers and two mixed breeds, with authorities confirming they have since been shot and killed by authorities.

According to reports, the owners were not home when the incident occurred, however, they have since been issued with a total of 15 citations for violations relating to their dog ownership which include not keeping them appropriately vaccinated against rabies and for exceeding the limit on the number of canine or feline pets allowed in the area.
Heartbreak for loved ones
A GoFundMe page has been set up for Ms Islas by her friend in attempt to provide some financial assistance so "she doesn't have to worry about being able to provide for her daughter" while recovering from the tragedy.
Currently in ICU, Ms Islas reportedly suffered severe nerve damage and has a ruptured artery in her right arm, alongside other injuries to her head and back.
"No mother should ever have to go through this," the fundraiser said.
There is an ongoing investigation by local authorities and federal charges could also be issued.
