Bride and groom divide opinion with 'tacky' move after wedding

A bride and groom are going viral on Twitter after one user shared an invoice the couple had sent a couple who didn't attend for the cost of their seat at the wedding reception.

"I don't think I've ever seen a wedding reception invoice before lol," they wrote, sharing the invoice for $240 for two people who were "no shows" at the wedding.

The invoice reads, "This invoice is being sent to you because you confirmed seat(s) at the wedding reception during the Final Headcount. The amount above is the cost of your individual seats.

"Because you didn't call or give us proper notice that you wouldn't be in attendance, this amount is what you owe us for paying for your seat(s) in advance. You can pay via Zelle or PayPal. Please reach out to us and let us know which method of payment works for you. Thank you!"

Twitter users were divided with their opinion on the matter with one user writing, "I understand being upset about no show guests for a small wedding, but sending an invoice is too much."

"You RSVP'd and didn't show? If so, that is some lame-a** s**t," another responded.

"That is tasteless. If you cannot absorb or factor in no shows then don't have it. Simple," a third wrote.

"Or have class by calling/texting the couple that you had an emergency and can’t make it," someone else said. "They might be petty by sending an invoice but the real jerk off is the person RSVPing and then not showing up with no explanation."

"This is a petty 'no need to ever talk to you ever again' notice," one person wrote. "This is not a bill. They’re simply being rude back to people that were rude to them and have given them nothing but SILENCE since the no show. This could have easily just said 'EF YOU for wasting space'!"

"$240 is a lot of waste... If there's not a proper excuse for not showing, they owe them people lol," another person added.

"Stop spending so much on weddings," someone else said. "This is so stupid. Shit happens. Sending an invoice is incredibly tacky. If you can't afford your wedding, make it cheaper. So dumb."

"It’s not about being able to afford it, it’s about the principle," another disagreed. "I had this done to me and I think it’s highly disrespectful to rsvp 'yes' to a wedding and just not show. So much time/effort/ money goes into a wedding. It’s unfair!"
