'In Chapultepec (zoo) we are honored to have the only breeding pair of this species in Mexico and all the offspring born here are destined for the California Condor conservation program. This is also the case with these two offspring. One was born in February 2022 and the other in April 2022. These two offspring have spent all this time with their parents, and will travel next May 11 to the San Pedro Martir mountain range in Baja California.'
The zoo hopes to breed more of the
critically endangered birds
