The car a man was driving when he died in a crash with a lorry was stolen and had cloned licence plates.

The 51-year-old was killed after the silver Peugeot 107 collided with the lorry on the A326 in Totton, at the junction with Monkton Lane, at 03:15 BST on Thursday.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said a second vehicle might have been in the area when the crash happened but left before officers arrived.

It said the Peugeot was stolen from Fordingbridge car park on 23 December 2023.

The A326 was shut between the A35 and Fletchwood Road for about 12 hours but reopened at about 15:00.
