Chevy Chase has had a long and distinguished showbiz career (SNL, National Lampoon, Caddyshack, Community etc. etc. etc.), but it sounds like his Evening With... show last night will be a peculiar highlight.
The blurb for the show describes Chase as "one of the most honoured and beloved actors of his generation" and a "comedy legend", so hopes were high for the "intimate" celebration of his half-century in the business.

Interviewing Chase at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith, London last night was none other than Mike Read.
That's former BBC Radio 1 DJ and singer/performer of 'UKIP Calypso' Mike Read.
If the instant reviews from fans on Twitter are anything to go by, it wasn't a match made in heaven (watch out for some swearing):
Mike Read genuinely pulled out an acoustic guitar and made Chevy Chase sing a song from 35 years ago nobody remembered.

I am watching Chevy Chase being interviewed on stage by former Radio 1 DJ Mike Read, and it’s going about as well as you might expect.

If you weren’t at the Chevy Chase gig tonight with Mike Read, this pic pretty much sums it up... pic.twitter.com/pbXXom2cMn

Wow. Ex-DJ Mike Read went full Partridge interviewing #ChevyChase on stage at @EventimApollo tonight! An absolute car crash of an event. Mic issues upstaged by Read wanting answers on Chevy’s Hemorroids and Drug Use ]]>😳
